Groundwork Music Project Ukulele Ensemble Lessons for Students Eight and Older at Mills Elementary

Groundwork Music is so excited to be offering ukulele lessons this year at Mills Elementary! We have been providing ukulele lessons in Austin schools for a decade, and we look forward to offering another year of service at Mills!

Lessons include ukulele play, singing, note reading, ear training, and lots of fun songs that kids love to play. Students get to play traditional songs, as well as ones that kids all over Austin have come to love, by way of public performances from the Groundwork Music Orchestra. All students will have opportunities to play with the band throughout the year, with a big holiday concert at Central Market in December. Mr. Evan also hosts monthly shows at the Hive on Manchaca (third Friday evening of each month).

Along with lots of fun, this program is a great primer for more advance musical endeavors in latter childhood years and into the teens. We often hear back from formerly participating families about how well prepared their child was for middle school band and other musical activities.

Our JHUI-certified teachers (James Hill Ukulele Initiative) have a depth of teaching knowledge and musical knowledge that helps children to develop both skill and a love of musical activity.
